Randomly, one of my teachers developed the idea to take students from our class on a trip to Poland. At that time we would study Majdanek(external link), a Holocaust(external link) concentration camp. From there, students would gather all types of media (media, audio, video) for the other students who remained in America and the quarterly project.
As a Jew, and someone who had recently reconnected with the religion, I made sure I was on that plane headed for Warsaw, Poland(external link). We spent 8 days in Poland, and approximately 6 in Lublin(external link), the city where Majdanek is located. From sunup to sundown, 4 other students and myself, photographed and videotaped the camp from every angle possible. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget and hope to recreate one day.
The project I created, based on this experience, places the user in the shoes of a prisoner of Majdanek. There are 3 different scenarios for one to 'walkthrough,' all lasting for different lengths of time. All photos in this project were taken by me personally.
Please Note: This project will take you to an entirely new page, within the Imagine24.net site. "Majdanek" is an immersive experience and must be viewed alone, without any extra navigation or copy.
