On December 4, 2006, at 8:00 a.m., I plopped down in my car, and pulled out of my driveway. I drove on a couple different highways and 40 minutes later, I arrived at my first, true, real job since I graduated college. I was going to be a professional Webmaster(external link), definitely exciting.

Symphony Publishing, as its name implies, is a publishing company that prints trade magazines dealing with music retailers, school bands, jazz, choir, golf, children's clothing, and footwear. As the resident Webmaster for all of these magazines, I am in charge of creating, and updating these sites, using a Content Management System called Oxcyon CentralPoint(external link). In addition to working on the web sites, I send out newsletters on a weekly and monthly basis, and promotional emails on a monthly basis, using ExactTarget(external link). Finally, since Symphony is a somewhat small company, I have become the whole IT department and assist all employees with any techical issues they might be experiencing, such as not receving their email or unable to access the Internet.
